SECONDARY GLAZING

Easyfix Clipglaze

The Easyfix Clipglaze double-glazing system is a secondary system that can be fitted internally or externally by any DIY enthusiast, quickly and efficiently, with minimal tools. The numerous benefits include cutting fuel costs by reducing heat loss, eliminating draughts, and lowering noise penetration.

The Easyfix system is based on a small, flexible edging strip that is placed onto the edge of the acrylic/plastic sheeting. The corners are easily formed using the mitre gauge, a feature unique to the Easyfix system, which provides a neat and accurate finish. The sheet is positioned against the window frame and secured with nylon fixing clips and woodscrews.

P.V.C. channelling suitable for 3mm or 4mm Perspex acrylic is available in clear and white, along with nylon fixing clips in natural, fixing screws, a mitre block for perfect corner cuts on the channelling, and easy-to-follow instructions. Only a few simple tools are required when fitting this DIY secondary glazing kit: a screwdriver, craft knife, marker pen, and tape measure are really all you need.

Easyfix Magnetglaze

Magnetglaze is an easy-to-remove magnetic secondary glazing system that provides cost-effective heat and noise insulation along with instant access to the outer window. It is intended for internal use only, on any non-opening or roof window frame, and with Perspex acrylic sheets – we do not recommend glass with magnetic products for safety reasons. The steel tape is adhered to the window surround, while the magnetic tape is affixed to the rear of the glazing sheet, which then clips neatly into place. The result is unobtrusive; however, for an enhanced cosmetic appearance, use Magnetglaze Finishing Trim to complete the effect.

The installation of Magnetglaze is very simple. Both the steel and magnetic tapes come in either 30 meter coils or sold by the meter, so you can easily measure off the required length, cut it, and, after cleaning and degreasing using Surface Preparation Wipes, stick it down into position.

New to the Magnetglaze range, for the presence of very large and draughty windows, is Magnetglaze Extreme. It is essentially the same as Magnetglaze, but uses 25.4mm wide steel and magnetic tape, providing a significant amount of extra grip, both to accommodate larger, heavier sheets and to react less to draughty windows during high winds.
